The NYFL is a non-profit organization whose sole purpose is to provide youth football and cheer in local areas for youth between ages of 6 and 14. We are dedicated to providing the best coaching, equipment, and competition for all who participate in this league. Though this is a competitive league, safety and sportsmanship shall never give way to competition. We believe in and promote the following character values:
- Respect - for yourself, opponents, officials, and spectators.
- Responsibility - accountable for one's own actions
- Integrity - truthfulness and following through with commitments
- Sportsmanship - fair play
We have grown from our humble beginnings of a couple of teams, to our current league size. We are always reviewing requests from new teams as well as from others previously affiliated with other leagues. Our growth is due to the common goal shared by all of the organizations within our league to provide a safe and positive football experience for the kids.
The NYFL's primary goal is to prepare the kids with the proper fundamentals and skills to succeed at the next level of football. At the same time we have not lost sight of the fact that we are here for the kids and we want the kids to have fun while involved with the NYFL and to have a positive playing experience.
Each organization in our league is independently managed. This means that teams set their own registration costs and registration periods. In addition, all teams oversee their own uniform requirements and equipment handouts.
Bears Mission
To inspire youth, regardless of race, color, or creed to participate in a vigorous and entertaining activity.
To bring our youth closer together through the means of a common interest in competitive teamwork, fair play and fellowship.
To acquaint cheerleaders with the fundamentals in organized cheering and dance routines.
To teach players the fundamentals of the game while employing the element of safety and intelligent supervision.
To teach sportsmanship, in defeat as well as victory; honesty of oneself as well as teammates and coaches; and love of the game with the ability to take a few knocks and bumps.
To keep the welfare of our youth first, foremost, and ENTIRELY FREE OF ADULT LUST FOR GLORY.
As Board Members and as Coaches, these objectives are a reminder of all that we can achieve together for the good of those we are trying to guide through life . . . .OUR CHILDREN
