Narrows Youth Football League

The Tahoma Junior Bears are pleased to be a part of the Narrows Youth Football League (NYFL)!  The NYFL has a long history and has continued to grow in the south sound. They are currently made up of 10 clubs and just like the Junior Bears, each of the clubs are football and cheer feeder programs to their local high schools. This is one of the main reasons for this change, as a board we feel like the clubs in the Narrows League is more aligned with the Junior Bears in their mission and development of athletes in a safe and competitive environment.

The 10 clubs in the league are the Graham-Kapowsin (GK) Eagles, Enumclaw Hornets, Bethel Bison, Emerald Ridge Junior Jags, Lakes Lancers, Bellarmine Lions, Peninsula Seahawks , Rogers Big Blue Rams, Gig Harbor Tides and UP Vikings. The field locations for game days will be in the South Sound area - Lakewood, Enumclaw, Tacoma, Gig Harbor, Puyallup, University Place, Spanaway and of course Maple Valley - Home of the Bears!

For Football we will have the same 6 teams, assigned by 2024/25 school year grade:

Little Tikes - : 8 years old or less on or after 6/1/22 OR in the 3rd grade for the 2024/25 school year

Mighty Mites - 4th grade for the 2024/25 school year

Pee Wees -  5th grade for the 2024/25 school year

Bantams - 6th grade for the 2024/25 school year

Juniors - 7th grade for the 2024/25 school year

Cruisers - 14U: 8th grade for the 2024/25 school year

For our Cheer program this means more clubs with cheer programs and an opportunity to continue to grow those relationships through sideline and competition cheer.

Mission

The purpose of the Narrows Youth Football League is to provide the youth of Greater Puget Sound area, regardless of race, gender, religion or creed, the opportunity to participate in a controlled athletic competition. The club players feed up to the high school program within their respective communities. The league seeks to bring youth together through their common interest, and support good sportsmanship, value of fair play, tolerance, and good conduct. Adults are encouraged to display these characteristics and behave in an exemplary manner.
